VISION:
When facing catastrophic illness or long term hospitalization of a loved one, no one should be alone.

The idea for Faith’s Hope was conceived in 2000 after the miraculous struggle of a newborn named Faith. Faith, the daughter of Marcus and Tanya Greene, was born with a congenital heart defect. Within 72 hours of arriving in this world, the frail baby girl had to undergo open-heart surgery to save her life. Doctors told Faith’s anxious parents that their daughter’s chance of survival was unknown, but, despite her continuing medical issues and pending surgeries, Faith is alive to this day and continues to thrive as a cheerful, rambunctious girl – a precious gift to her family.

During the period of their daughter’s prolonged hospitalization, Marcus and Tanya encountered several families undergoing similar strife – both emotional and financial. United in their grief over the plight of their loved ones and the resulting financial hardships, the families became worried over their predicament to make ends meet. Each of them faced the prospect of losing their homes, their cars, and their jobs. Whole families were in danger of having utilities shut off and struggled with the inability to put food on the table. Family members had to find the financial resources to pay for unexpected and lengthy hotel stays and other expenses.

Ironically, those eligible for the least government attention are the group with the most need in times of crisis. Too poor to have an extra cache of reserves to dip into and too rich to be considered truly poor, the working class suffers from the benign neglect of agencies encumbered by the neediest. Marcus and Tanya realized that not only was the loved one in the hospital undergoing a major medical crisis, but their family members were suffering as well. After their experience, Marcus and Tanya decided that they would strive to help fill the void of financial aid for family members who were losing their livelihoods and slipping into poverty while trying to keep one family member alive.

Faith’s Hope will be there for the working class so that these families can retain their homes, jobs, and customary means of transportation, all with the purpose of maintaining gainful employment. In the process, the working class will keep their hard-earned respect and dignity.

Since its inception, Faith’s Hope has assisted over 325 families from across the country. In the past year alone, we have helped approximately 85 different families keep their homes and cars, buy groceries and pay utility bills while their loved one endured long-term hospitalization. With partnerships with the Ronald McDonald House of Orange County, the Ronald McDonald House of  Northern Nevada, the Nevada Cancer Institute, the Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans, God’s Katrina Kitchen in Mississippi, The Hahn Family Foundation and Life Line of Tennessee, the Organization has grown substantially over the past year and now has a presence in 25 states.
